Wooohoo!  Mommas Executive staff came into the office this morning and cracked the whip.  The Chaz-onator slammed the latest point rankings down on my desk, then proceeded to voice (quite loudly) that I should get off my "annoyingly lethargic and useless" posterior and get these rankings posted ASAP.  Then he disappeared into the Marketing guys office for a game of Wii Golf.

So hold on to your pants Mommas Fans!  We have updated rankings!  But, please remember you have to have a MommasPoker.com account and be logged in to see them!

MommasPoker Player Steve Archer Passes On. PDF Print E-mail

Steve Archer

Many of us know MommasPoker Player Steve Archer.  He was always one with a funny joke to tell the table which always lead to many riotous bouts of laughter.  Unfortunately early Monday morning Steve suffered from a heart attack.  Tuesday the hospital put him under a medically induced coma to facilitate his healing.  Wednesday he was taken off life support and passed away at 4:20pm on 6/23/2010.

Everyone with MommasPoker is deeply saddened by this loss.  Steve was a good friend, someone who made us laugh, and a deeply devoted father.  We will miss your smile and laughter at each and every poker table from now on, Steve!

Mommas Excentric Art Department guy took the liberty of grabbing some photos from his Facebook site and we've created a photo gallery of him here.  So please go take a look.

Schedule Updates PDF Print E-mail

Ok, well the whole team has been busy moonlighting our various other jobs during the bad economy.  Our graphic artist is working a couple jobs for websites that do "adult content" type items.  The Web-Guy has been working jobs for various companies, the last of which doing a website for the International beanie baby collectors society.  Don't ask him about it, he'll just go on an on about the intricacies of beanie baby collecting, sure to bore you to desperate acts of self mutilation! The marketing guy has been doing some consulting for that insurance company that has all those annoying commercials you see on TV.  The IT director has been curled up in the corner of the server room slowly rocking back and forth muttering something that sounds like "virtualization is the answer", whatever that means.

So anyway there haven't been updates to the website for a while, but we got the old band back together and we're tuned up and opening the curtains, so here goes.

Somebody noticed that A-Town wasn't showing up on the schedule anymore, that has been corrected and it now shows up as before. It was a silly expiration issue.

And lastly there is a new place to play!  Announcing Sandstone Grill, on the corner of Rural & Ray.  There is a 7pm and 10pm game on Wednesdays.  The calendar has been updated as well.

We've installed a new calendar on the website.  Please let us know if you see any problems with it.  The neat new feature is that you can now download the MommasPoker calendar to your ipod/iphone.  But we haven't tested that feature yet.  NONE of the other poker leagues have anything near this!

Jim Barber's Casino Arizona experience. PDF Print E-mail
Written by WebDude

After the last Tournament of Champions with MommasPoker, Jim Barber won 1st place, which was a seat at the Casino Arizona tournament which had a grand prize of $20,000.  So we asked him to write a brief description of his experience...

Hi gang,

Jim Barber here.  I have been asked to summarize my experience at casino Arizona so here it is.

There where 250 seats in the tournament with some players waiting for people to drop out.  We started with 3500 in chips and we were given an opportunity to buy 2000 more starting chips for $15.  The average age of the players looked like about 50.  Everyone played very tight, betting only when they had something.  I was not catching cards and therefore lasted for about an hour.  The general mood was all business.  There was some light banter among the players who knew each other.

I want to take another shot at them soon.

Later,

Jim
